Britney Spears - The Femme Fatale Tour: Concert Review

So It has been over a week since I saw Britney Spears in concert live. Britney Spears brought her Femme Fatale Tour to Chicago, Illinois on July 8, 2011; and I have to say, it was a great spectacle.

The excitement didn't really kick in until I was outside the United Center. The streets were packed with people and cars. The radio stations were playing Britney's music nonstop, from her old singles to her recent hits. I mean it was crazy outside the United Center. I went to the concert with one of my friends, and he was excited as well. When we finally got to our seats I was amazed. The Stage was amazing. We were closer than I expected. It was a great view. The arena was also huge. It was bigger than the last time she came to Chicago at the Allstate Arena for her The Circus Starring: Britney Spears tour [Read my review HERE]

So when we arrived and took our seats, Jesse and the Toy Boys were performing. Not to be rude, but I could really care less about them. I came to this concert to see Britney Spears, and Britney Spears only, and besides I had no idea who this band was. So after they were done, Nicki Minaj immediately came on. I didn't mind seeing Nicki because I do like a few of her songs. Nicki Minaj was very fun. She interacted with the crowd, she was very entertaining to watch.

After Nicki Minaj was done with her setlist, it was time to see Britney Spears. A notification went on the screens around the arena stating how much time was left until Britney went on, and it was about 40 minutes. I was kind of ticked off it was going to take that long for Britney to come on, but my friend and I went and bought something to eat, and the time went by pretty quick, and before I knew it there was 2 minutes left.

When there was a minute left you could feel the excitement from the whole arena. Everybody started screaming, the lights suddenly went dim, and very suspenseful music started playing. Im telling you... IT WAS CRAZY!!!

Then all of a sudden the beginning video interlude started playing in the main screen. Britney was being chased by cops, she looked hot, and then the video stopped, and the Hold It Against Me Started playing. Britney was in a white leotard outfit, and looked great. Once she came out the whole arena went nuts!!! I actually started shaking as soon as I saw her. I was so excited. I started singing along... it was great. Her dancing was very good for "Hold It Against Me'. The second song right after "Hold It Against Me" was "Up n Down". She was inside of a cage dancing, and they were moving Up n Down!

The whole setlist was this: 1. "Hold It Against Me", 2. "Up n' Down", 3. "3", 4. "Piece of Me", 5. "Big Fat Bass", 6. "How I Roll",7. "Lace and Leather",8. "If U Seek Amy", 9. "Gimme More", 10. "(Drop Dead) Beautiful", 11. "Boys (The Co-Ed Remix)", 12. Don't Let Me Be The Last to Know", 13. "...Baby One More Time"/"S&M", 14. "Trouble For Me", 15. "Im a Slave 4 U", 16. "Burning Up", 17. "I Wanna Go", 18. "Womanizer". 19. "Toxic", and 20. "Till The World Ends".

Overall the Britney was on stage for a good 1 hour and 30 minutes or so. The Femme Fatale Concert last a good 3 to 4 hours overall.

Pros

The highlights of the night for me were "Lace and Leather", because she interacted with the crowd and chose a member of the audience to dance on the car with; "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know", because it is one of her old songs and I was curious to see her sing this live, and she sung very good; "S&M"; "Trouble For Me", because I love this song off "Femme Fatale"; "Im a Slave 4 U", because she did the old choreography that her fans love, and it showed that she can still dance like she used to; "Burning Up", because it was fun, and she looked great on top of that guitar; "I Wanna Go", because it got me off my seat, and the whole arena was screaming and jumping up and down, and fans went up on stage and danced with Britney; and the last highlight of the night was "Till The World Ends", because I love this song, and I love the choreography in the song as well, and everybody went crazy when this song came on... I mean it was the encore performance, and was outstanding.

So overall this concert was great!!! I loved the fan interaction, I loved that she finally sang most of her concert live and very well too, I loved how she looked; she seemed confident, I loved the setlist, I loved the stage, I loved so much about this concert. It felt more like a concert than her last tour. It felt like a combination of her Dream Within A Dream Tour, Onyx Hotel Tour, House of Blues Tour, and The Circus Starring Britney Spears.

Cons

Even though I loved this concert so much, there were a few things I didn't like as well. Britney fans are going to kill me for this but, she didn't really have "choreography" in this tour. I mean sure "Hold It Against Me", "Slave 4 U", and "Till The World Ends" were the only real songs that had choreography. The rest of the songs just had poses and a lot of running around, and they had like 10 to 15 second breakdowns. Another thing that I didnt like was the way the songs were remixed. For example "Toxic", "Gimme More", and "Boys" all had like an Egyptian, or Chinese, Indian theme. I would have preferred it if they would have just kept the songs normal, I mean the remixes really killed the concert experience for me a bit. These remixes kind of gave Britney a way out of not doing her original choreography for "Toxic", and "Boys". And the last thing I didn't really like were her outfits. They weren't that great, they all seemed simple, and just boring.

So overall, I wish she could have kept some songs without remixing them, and I wish she would have danced more.

In comparison with her previous tour: The Circus Starring Britney Spears, I prefer her previous tour. She had better outfits, better song remixes, and she had dancing/choreography in all the songs she performed. The Circus tour also had better souvenirs too. The Femme Fatale tour did have live singing and and more fan interaction though.

But either way I really enjoyed myself at the Femme Fatale tour. I couldn't believe I was in the same room as the Legendary Queen of Pop, Miss Britney Spears. It was surreal. It was another great experience added to my life. I will never forget this night.

  2. Yes I do realize that they remixed the songs to fit the tour, but I didnt like em. It took away from the amazing songs they already were! And I am the biggest Britney fans there is! I have so loyal to her! So dont tell me im not a fan. I dont have to like everything she does!! Im not delusional like some of her other fans that praise and bow to everything she does!

  3. Junior, thanks for the very objective review. I just saw the show in Orlando on Wednesday and thought it was fabulous, but it was interesting reading your take on it as well. I do definitely agree about some of the remixes, if there would have only been one, it would have been ok, but four was overkill (she had a funky remix to Baby One More Time too).
